the rob dyrdek foundation is now the sls foundation
the Rob Dyrdek Foundation constructed its first skate plaza in Kettering, Ohio with the intention of contributing to communities by providing the healthy and sustainable benefits of skateboarding through partnerships with municipalities, non-profit organizations, and private donors to design, develop, and construct safe and legal skate plazas around the world. Since its inception in 2003, The Rob Dyrdek Foundation has raised over $6.1 million and constructed 18+ safe and legal skate plazas.
The model introduced at the Kettering Skate Plaza helped spawn the creation of Street League Skateboarding (SLS) in 2010–a platform that serves to excite the skateboarding community, educate both the avid and casual fan, and grow the sport of skateboarding globally. Dyrdek and his team decided to transition the Rob Dyrdek Foundation vision to that of the Street League Foundation given SLS’s successful growth over the last four years and its alignment with the original core mission of the Rob Dyrdek Foundation.
"I’m excited for the
Street League Foundation to
assume the mission of the
Rob Dyrdek Foundation. We will
continue to create safe, legal and
accessible places for everyone to
skate and continue to solidify the
sport of street skateboarding as
one of the most recognized
sports in the world." - Rob Dyrdek
